Preventive care is the foundation of a healthy smile. At Dodgeville Dental, our goal is to identify concerns early, reduce the risk of future problems, and help you maintain your natural teeth for a lifetime.
Every patient has different needs. We personalize your preventive care based on your oral health, medical history, cavity risk, gum health, age, and home-care routine.
Professional cleanings remove plaque and hardened buildup that cannot be fully removed with brushing and flossing alone. Regular visits also allow us to monitor your teeth, gums, bite, and existing dental work so changes can be addressed before they become more serious.
During your visit, we take time to explain what we see and offer practical recommendations for caring for your smile at home.
Healthy gums are essential to a healthy mouth. When plaque and bacteria collect below the gumline, they can lead to inflammation, bleeding, bone loss, and periodontal disease.
For patients with gum disease, a routine cleaning may not be enough. Periodontal therapy provides a deeper cleaning below the gums to remove harmful buildup and help the tissues heal. More frequent maintenance visits may then be recommended to keep the condition under control and protect the bone supporting the teeth.
Fluoride varnish is a quick, comfortable treatment that helps strengthen enamel and make teeth more resistant to decay. It may be recommended for both children and adults, especially those with a higher risk of cavities, sensitive teeth, exposed roots, dry mouth, orthodontic appliances, or a history of frequent dental work.
The deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth can be difficult to clean, particularly for children and teenagers. Dental sealants create a thin protective coating over these areas, helping prevent food and bacteria from settling into the grooves.
Sealants are comfortable to place and usually require no drilling or numbing.
In many cases, tooth decay can be detected early when it is limited to the outer layer of the tooth. When these small cavities are limited to the enamel of the tooth, we may recommend Curodont as a noninvasive treatment option.
Curodont is applied directly to the early area of decay and supports the tooth’s natural remineralization process. It is completed without drilling or anesthesia and may help stop or reverse early enamel damage before a filling becomes necessary. It is intended for carefully selected, early-stage areas and does not replace a filling once the tooth has developed a physical cavity.
This treatment reflects our minimally invasive philosophy: when possible, we want to strengthen and preserve healthy tooth structure rather than remove it.
We believe education builds confidence. Digital X-rays, photographs, and other visual tools allow us to show you what we see and explain why a preventive treatment may be beneficial.
Rather than offering the same recommendations to every patient, we work with you to create a practical plan that supports your individual health and goals.
Our commitment to striving to evolve means continually evaluating new materials, technology, and preventive treatments that may help our patients avoid more extensive dentistry.
From routine cleanings and gum therapy to sealants, fluoride, and early cavity treatment with Curodont, our goal is to provide thoughtful care that keeps small concerns from becoming larger ones.
